Healthy Homemade Popsicles
Mood:  chillin'
Topic: Food/Snacks

Keep your kids cool this summer with a healthy ice-cold treat. Instead of giving your child store-bought, sugar-filled snacks, try these economical, kid-friendly recipes for homemade popsicles. Mouthwatering and delicious, they create a fun, summer-time snack that your kids will never forget.

Strawberry/Orange/Banana Popsicles
1 – 6 oz. can frozen orange juice concentrate (softened – don’t add water)
1 cup of fresh strawberries (washed and stemmed)
2 cups plain or vanilla yogurt
1 large banana (optional)

Mix above ingredients in blender. Pour into popsicles molds (available at major retail stores) or small paper cups. Freeze until partially set and insert popsicle sticks (also available at major retail stores). Finish freezing and enjoy! Makes 12 - 2.5 oz popsicles.

Strawberry Lemonade Popsicles
1 - 12 oz. can of frozen lemonade concentrate (softened)
2½ cups cold water
1 - 16 oz. package frozen sliced strawberries

Mix lemonade and water in pitcher. Puree strawberries in blender until smooth and stir by hand into lemonade mixture. Pour into molds or small paper cups and freeze until partially set. Add popsicles sticks and finish freezing. Makes approximately 12 popsicles. This recipe can also be enjoyed as a smoothie. Just pour the above mixture into glasses and drink!

Watermelon Popsicles
2 cups seedless watermelon chunks
2 cups orange juice
1 cup water

Puree ingredients in blender and pour into popsicle molds or small paper cups. Freeze until partially set and insert popsicle sticks. Finish freezing. Yields approximately 12 popsicles
